This week wraps up our 2004 Summer Odyssey. The builders were able to
mark off 2150 entries from their todo list! It might not seem like
much, but the list is long and some entries are more complicated than
others. Every installed area got touched this summer in one way or
another - all in all a great effort from the building department!

The end of Summer is almost officially here. School is back in
session and a lot of people are finding their schedules once again
shifting. We hope that everyone has enjoyed the Summer Odyssey and
you all have been having fun exploring all the changes and will keep
the ideas coming all year!

Murder Mystery: San Francisco
2pm on Sunday, August 29th.

A corpse has been found floating in the American River which flows
past San Francisco. Who is dead? Who killed them? Where? How? Why? In
a boomtown where golden hopes meet gritty reality, your task will be
to solve the mystery and uncover the secret behind this dastardly
deed. Join the investigation!

-- You'll work as part of a team, but it's up to your nature whether
you'll be working for the team, running your own investigation, or
   trying to sabotage the team.

-- The team will be able to interview imm-animated mobs to gain new
evidence (but some mobs may lie, for their own reasons...).

-- Plot participants who ask in advance will be be given access to
personal bits of evidence, and roleplay their knowledge of that
evidence. But if you don't want to roleplay anything so pre-set,
that's okay too :) just show up the day of the plot and dive in!

-- If your own roleplay might intersect with this type of plot, or
you'd like to play a particular role in the plot, let me know!

As you can probably tell, the inital part of the plot will be
determined in advance to make sure that the mystery is solvable, but
your innovations and ideas may well lead us down a path I never
imagined -- and at that point, I'll just follow right along, and try
to keep up with you :)

Credits: This manner of play is partly inspired by the board game
'Clue' and those dinner murder mystery things, as well as by a game
called 'Human Clue' which I used to enjoy at summer camp.

A couple of folks have asked me about getting a role in advance. This
is how that will work:

- a few minutes before the plot, you'll get a card with your evidence
  on it.

- memorize it, junk it, keep it to yourself.

- develop an RP story that makes the evidence come to life

For example, say we were doing this plot in Tara, and say I gave you
a card that said 'Rhia, Temple of Dana, you heard a faint scream'.

You'd think about your RP a little, and make up a bit of a story. Say
you're a bit of a Casanova type -- if it so happened that people
started to say that they thought Rhia was the murderess, you'd step
up and say suavely that oh no, it couldn't have been Rhia, because
she and I were necking behind the temple altar at the time of the
murder.

Say you were more of a disrupter type. You might conveniently forget
that you have Rhia's alibi, and when the accusations turn towards
her, you might well keep quiet until she tries to convince you to
help her -- and even then, you might extort something from her before
you'd agree to supply that alibi.

Say you were more of a friendly kid, and someone starts to say they
think that the murder happened at the temple. You might say that you
were playing marbles there, and you didn't see anything. Then, if the
group started to ask you more questions, you might remember that you
did hear some noise, but you were too busy playing to pay much
attention to it.

Let me know if this example is helpful or non-helpful -- and let me
know if you'd like to be on the list of folks who get some hints
about what did or didn't happen at the time of the murder. You won't
get your clues until the day of the plot, so have your creativity hat
handy and be there early :). I hope to have enough details for
everyone, but I probably will run out if people don't ask me in
advance so I know how many to prepare.

See you there!

                      The Wedding Story

Soon after his miracle changing, Dak was helping whomever he could.
One day though, while returning to an inn after helping a lowbie in
need, he came across a something that deserved a second glance.

There, in the corner of the Stag, sat the most beautiful woman he had
ever laid eyes on. She was sitting all alone in the corner of the inn
and looking sad, but this took nothing from her beauty. He slowly
advanced towards her and asked her what was wrong and if he could
help. She looked up and gazed into his eyes and he almost fell. Her
eyes... they were the same shade of blue as his... something he had
never before seen. She took his breath away at that first glance and
he knew, deep down, that this was the girl for him.

In the days and months that followed they got closer and closer. It
was a rare sight to see them apart and they were almost always
helping somebody with something. As time drew on Dak began to realize
that he was in love with Zita and would do anything to stay with her
forever, but he also realized that if he didn't act upon his feeling
soon, she was gonna find another. So, acting on instinct and the love
he felt for Zita, he told her how he felt and that he wanted to marry
her. She told him that she would need a while to think things over.
Marriage was a big step after all. So... because he loved her so
dearly and wanted her to be happy more than anything else, he waited.

After a while of waiting that seemed like an eternity, she told him
that she was ready. However, he did not react right away, he wanted
the moment to be perfect. Then, one night in Pittsburgh, under the
unveiled moon and millions of stars, he got on his knee, took her
hand, looked into her beautiful blue eyes, and asked her to marry
him. As the tears of happiness rolled down her face she just gazed
back into His ice blue eyes and said, 'Yes... Yes i will.'

Dak smiled a big smile and they embraced. Holding each other for
hours under those beautiful stars.

Now they are to be wed, and all the details on the weddding will to
be announced soon.

                         An Eye For...

The Afterlife's brat sat cross-legged, uncharacteristically unhidden,
atop the jeweller's silk covered counter. She shivered and hugged
herself for warmth despite both the heat of the desert and the heat
that emitted from her body. The jeweller shifted uneasily on his
stool before he continued diligently carving little swirls in the
thick silver band.

He had not heard her when she first entered his shop. Although he
hadn't recognized her, she'd appeared as an Agrabah native, long
flowing robes over tanned skin. She had moved so softly, her steps so
soundless, that he had eyed her suspiciously and counted his
trinkets. He was surprised when she removed her disguise and revealed
wildly curled, deep red tresses and skin so pale and translucent that
moonlight could envy it. She was perfectly formed in every aspect,
down to the delicate fingers that tucked stray locks behind her ears,
the blue eyes that sparkled mischievously, and the full lips that
smiled ever so slightly.

He turned the ring around and engraved the words 'Purgatory' and
'Hell' inside.

'Will this work?' She broke the silence and the jeweller looked up.

'Well, miss, you do realize this is an odd request?'

Words failed him as the woman's brow furrowed, and its wrinkles
deepened and dripped down the right side of her face, melting into
crow's feet and laugh lines...withering the taut, smooth skin until
the entire right side of her body was a study of time and decay; the
right side as horrid and vile as the left side was vibrant and
striking.

'You were saying?' She looked at him, an empty, sickening socket
mirroring a brilliant azure eye. She began biting her nails
nervously, and through gaps in the shrunken muscles of her
decomposing cheek he saw gumless teeth.

He closed his eyes and tried to still his trembling body. He took a
deep breath and said a silent prayer.

'Yes, as I was saying...well miss, you do realize this is an odd
request? I have not done this before...but I assure you it will
work.'

She sighed softly and when the jeweller opened his eyes he blinked
several times, wondering if his eyes deceived him. Her face was again
full and flawless. Quickly he turned back to his work, eager for its
completion, setting a brilliant blue glass eye in the thick silver
band. As beautiful as she was, he could not shake that haunting
vision.

When he was done, she plucked the ring from his fingers before he had
a chance to polish it and said with a mischievous wink, 'It's a joke
between Purgatory and me. I used to keep it in the eye socket.'

The jeweller flinched as she suddenly kissed him on the cheek and
slid off the counter, and before he could say a word she vanished
into the hot desert air.

                        Enemy Invaders

The tall white indian stalked the underbrush like a hunting cat. His
eyes keen to everything, his sence of hearing so profound that he
could he the small shuffle of little creatures who inhabited the
ground under the brush. He made no sound at all, he was completly
silent. His mastery of his forester skills flowed from him like a
raging river. Slowly and surly he snuck up on the unaware indian who
dared sneak into his home area, and kill his game. The invader would
pay dearly, he would pay with his life.

For a moment Renno figured on drawing his belt knife and dispatching
the unlucky opponent who traveled into his land. But then he thought,
this man was not worthy of working a sweat, so slowly he drew his
long bow, which he has had for years. He loaded and took aim, and let
fly. The arrow streaked through the air making a whistling sound
before thudding into the chest of the warrior. The warrior lurched,
his back crooked and fell to the ground dead. Renno went to his kill
to take his rightful prise, the warriors scalp.

As he made his way into the clearing were the warrior had been, Renno
started to here sound, as if many others were in the vicinity. Slowly
he withdrew into his hiding and pressed his ear to the ground. He
heard the footsteps of ten maybe more warriors. All seeming to be
coming this way, he had no time to call for help from the sentries
who riddled the area. So quickly he loaded his bow, got his tomahalk
ready at his side along with his knife, and waited patiently. His
patients was awarded quite quickly as about fifteen warriors came
into view. All wearing the colors of his most hated enemys, the
Nadiez. They wore blue and black like a shield, that would soon fold
to a Seneca arrow. How stupid theywere to come into the Seneca land
and not be punished. One Seneca warrior of normal prowess could take
out five of them. But Renno he was renowned for his prowess with his
weapons and of battle. He had never Been deafeated.

The first thing he did was aim for the leader of the party, and let
fly. The arrow flew true thudding into the warriors eye, sending him
shreaking to the ground. In seconds he send out a third arrow, and a
fourth, then a fifth. All finding there deadly targets. Then Renno
could not shoot no more they had found him. Renno dropped his bow,
and picked up his Tomahalk and belt knife and dived into the frey. As
he dived he pitched himself into a roll to come up in the midst of
the thick of them. His threw his arms in all directions, finding
targets were ever his arms went. Then a warrior landed a slash on him
accross the ribs. A sharp jolt of pain went through him, he screamed
and went into a rage, The warriors began to give way, all of them
falling to the ground screaming, or some screaming there death crys.
Renno didnt care he cept going untill the last warrior who had been
there began to flee.

'Just like your weak little nation, you flee when the fighting is the
worst' Renno screamed at the warrior and he threw his Tomahalk. The
tomahalk thudded into the warriors back, severing his spinal cord.
The warrior died of pain in and instant. The he began to take his
awards one by one, scalping every warrior.

He left the grusome sight for the bird and went at the Seneca trot
back to town, were he would be healed by his aunt, and fed by his
mother.

                  Dino's Autobiography, Chapter Two

We left the prison. It was wonderful to walk outside. It was a bright
sunny day in May. It was beautiful. Green grass. Birds. Blooming
trees. Blue skies. I realized what a beautiful place the prison stood
in. A small stream bubbled to the east. The path continued north and
the prison stood at the south. There were some bushes and flowers to
the west, a couple of animals looking for food around them and a very
dense forest behind all of that. Pretty. We continued down the path.
More animals scurried around. We walked in complete silence. At every
step, the path was harder to see and was overgrowing with vines at an
incredible pace. The animals and stream were no longer seen or heard.
We had entered a thick forest. A canopy of trees blocked the sunlight
above us. I decided to break the silence and say something.

'Where are we?' I questioned quietly.

'We are in a forest, as you can see.' He replied thinking he's all
smart and everything. I was starting to get the feeling that he would
be better left alone. So I continued walking. Sharp roots dug into my
bare feet. I tried to ignore the burning feeling the roots were
causing. Instead of thinking about that, I tried to remember my life
before I was taken away. I tried to remember the house, the dog, the
lawn, the swing in the backyard, my mom. Unfortunately, I couldn't
remember any of this besides 'it was there'. I looked down at my feet
and noticed that they were red and full of blisters. We had left the
dense forest and now we were walking through a huge plain. It was
HUGE! As far as the eye can see, green grass. Not a tree or animal in
sight. Just grass. It was around noon so the sun was beating down on
us. But it wasn't the hot kind of sun that makes you sweat like
crazy. It was the sun that kind of warms you inside. It's rays just
like the land around you and the cool breeze makes everything
perfect. Sometimes you can even feel the rays going through your skin
and sending a warm tingling feeling around your body. So it was the
perfect weather. We walked on the plain for a while. Sometimes I was
even wondering if we were walking in circles or going the right way
but I didn't ask. Around three o'clock we neared a road. It was a
concrete path to a village. Some trees stood around it but they
didn't bring any shade. We entered the village and I looked around.

'So much food,' I though to myself evilly. People ran around the
town, going from shop to shop, inside houses, outside houses,
everyone was busy. It was like a mini-New York City. We kept moving.
The town was small so we entered and exited it in less then ten
minutes at different ends. We walked on and on and on. I was very
tired and wanted to just sit down and never move.

'I know you're tired,' he said to me as though he had read my mind.
'But we will keep moving,' He added. 'We're almost there anyway.'

'Almost there?' I said kind of cranky, 'We left at eight in the
morning, and now it's almost four in the afternoon. We better be
almost there.' He didn't reply and pretended that he didn't hear what
I said. I yawned and kept on walking. My stomach made some funny
noises so I decided that I was hungry. I looked around for some
people but we had returned to the plain and there were definitely no
people here besides us. So we walked. The sun was starting to set and
I figured it was around six or seven now. Almost there. We neared
another path. This one looked more civilized. We entered a town much
bigger then the one we had walked through earlier. It looked almost
exactly the same except bigger. We walked on and on and came to a
house. Jaenrik stopped walking and stood in front of the house. I
stopped to.

'Here we are,' He moved to the door and I followed him. He opened the
door and led me inside.
