A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
There aren't any updates in this issue, as there aren't any new ones posted in
the game! Check the welcome board in the upcoming days, however, to make sure
that you don't miss anything new and important! There is a small PKill section
in this issue, consisting only of the number of wins. I'm sorry if this upsets
anybody, but by doing the count this way, I'm able to put out a more regular
LT.
Anyway, please enjoy the two player submissions, and be sure to send in your
own!

A Trial of Diplomacy
Several weeks had passed since Virgo's death. Serpentarius had moved on as
best as he could, and resolved to make sure Virgo had not been sacrificed in
vain. Within the sanctuary of his Tomb he prepared himself for the battles
ahead; while the search for Virgo was over, his war with the other Zodiac
could not be rescinded. He swung his scythe through the air, opening up a
portal to the Realm of the Zodiac, and stepped through. It was time to pay
them a visit.
The Realm: the home, haven, and for Gemini at least, the prison of the Zodiac,
due to the self-imposed laws which only allow a Zodiac to leave and visit the
mortal world during their respective time of the year. Any more than that has
caused chaos in the past. Only Serpentarius had been exempt, being the first
of the Zodiac and their leader.
Not that he was given any such courtesy today. Having expected to have a fight
on his hands as soon as he entered the Realm, he was somewhat disappointed to
find the landscape entirely devoid of life.
Seeing an observatory atop a mountain on the horizon, Serpentarius began
making his way there, whilst taking the time to familiarize himself with the
world he'd been torn from for so long. After several hours of hiking through
golden fields and valleys he finally reached the entrance of the observatory,
and the door was already open for him.
Serpentarius hesitated for a moment. Clearly, someone was expecting him. But
he didn't come this far to turn back, and so he stepped through the door into
what appeared to be a vast library. Millions of books lined shelves reaching
all the way up to the top of the tower, with a spiral staircase in the center.
Curious, Serpentarius flipped through one of the books; it was a chronicle of
astronomy, as too appeared to be all the other books in the library. It
appeared that someone had been recording the entire history of the universe.
Serpentarius put the book back before he could get a headache, and began
making his way up the staircase. After a seemingly endless ascent, he finally
reached the observatory at the top of the tower. The roof of the tower was a
glass dome, giving a good view of the world and the stars. A large telescope
stood by the window, though it was mainly for aesthetics; there was little
that Libra didn't already see. He was standing next to it, looking out at the
horizon.
'Welcome, Serpentarius,' said Libra as he turned around. His appearance was of
a weak old man leaning on a sceptre, though the Zodiac have many forms, and
Serpentarius could sense great power emanating from him. Serpentarius remained
silent, instead simply drawing his scythe.
Libra ignored the gesture. 'I trust you enjoyed the gift I sent you?' he asked
dryly.
'If you mean Virgo, you know as well as I that she is dead,' Serpentarius
replied coldly. 'And I wouldn't be at all surprised if that was your intention
all along!'
'I intended merely to awaken you,' Libra explained. 'And I told Virgo how to
undo the seal as a gesture of goodwill. There is something that must be done,
and you are the only one of us who can.'
Serpentarius wasn't entirely amused. 'Well, as long as it involves your
painful death.' he muttered. He'd learnt long ago what happens to misplaced
trust.
Libra nodded solemnly. 'I have seen what will happen once we are gone, and
I've no intention of stopping you. You must defeat me and the others; anything
less will doom us all.'
His words puzzled the Serpent King. Anything less than their deaths would doom
them? It didn't make sense, and yet Libra was never one to make mistakes.
'You.. want to die?' asked a somewhat confused Serpentarius.
'It isn't a matter of want. This is something that has to happen,' replied
Libra. 'Virgo's death, too, was destiny. Though I was less than willing to
slay her myself, that you took care of it for me made it clear: such is the
way it must be.'
Serpentarius felt a chill run up his spine. He'd heard those words before.
Fortunately, Libra's request happened to coincide with Serpentarius' own
mission of vengeance, which made the decision rather easy.
'We must hurry,' Libra said, looking out at the horizon. 'You are being hunted
as we speak.'
'Very well. Any last requests?' Serpentarius asked, readying himself for the
kill.
'Merely your forgiveness..' Libra replied with a slight grin. 'I must put up a
fight, or the others may get suspicious.'
'If you insis-' Serpentarius tried to say, but was blasted with lightning
before he could finish. He was sent flying through the glass and began
plummeting towards the ground.
The Serpent King was not amused. He spread his wings and flew back up to the
observatory, swooping through the window he'd just made, dodged some more
lightning and stuck his scythe through Libra's chest and threw both him and
the scythe through the glass.
Much to Serpentarius' annoyance, however, Libra was able to recover and hover
outside the observatory.
'Not bad, but I'm afraid more is required from you!' Libra taunted.
Serpentarius was more than willing to comply.
In a flash of light, Serpentarius had flown up and grabbed the scythe, but
instead of removing it from Libra's torso, he instead kept flying up and up to
the outer reaches of the Realm's atmosphere. And before Libra could react,
they were already plummeting back down through the sky at a horrifying speed.
A millisecond before they were to hit the tower, Serpentarius unhooked Libra
from the scythe and broke his fall with his wings; Libra, however, was sent
crashing through the entire tower and landed on the ground with a horrific
impact.
It took Libra several minutes to climb out of the Libra-shaped crater, and by
that time Serpentarius was there to help lift him out.
'Now that was more impressive,' Libra commented wryly as he brushed the dust
off.
'I do like to leave a lasting impression,' Serpentarius replied.
'Indeed!' Libra laughed. But the scene was soon interrupted by the sound of
thunderous footsteps quickly approaching. Libra turned to Serpentarius. 'Looks
like we're all depending on you now.'
Serpentarius nodded. 'Fear not; your plan is safe with me,' he replied.
Libra smiled. 'You have passed the trial of Diplomacy and I will give you my
power.'
He then faded into nothingness, imbuing the Serpent King with his strength,
leaving behind only his last words:
'For all our sakes, never let go of your prey..'

Serpentarius,
I suppose I should begin this missive by stating that I truly hope you receive
it. I'm not exactly sure where to address it to, so it seems that this is
bound to travel the world. It seems a little odd that I'm going to risk this
letter never reaching you just because I don't know where to send it to, but I
am curious as to how you are doing, as it's been so terribly long since I've
seen you. The risk will be worth the reward, perhaps.
At least, I hope it will be worth it. And, of course, I mean that I hope that
this makes it to you. Oh, I'm so sorry! I'm rambling and you're not even here;
you have me that flustered! However, I truly do miss you and hope you're well.
Perhaps when you return, should you wish to return, of course, we could have
another outing like our last? Unless you'd rather not. In which case, I
understand entirely. After all, who am I to beg for so much of your time?
Ugh, I'm babbling again. I'm sorry. I just wish you were here. Lucas stopped
by the other day, and though he is a good friend of mine, I still felt lonely.
You must think me a fool for all of this, considering I've never once uttered
a word of anything like this to you when we've spent time together.
... Well, I've more than reached the goal I had when I sat down to write this
letter: To say that I hope you're well and that I miss you.
Yours,
Kezia Bellamont
