Catch Someone Being Good, and Tell the World This week's report: Gondar, about Flea, Ishtar, Vengeance, Huggy, and Touchstone This is a doozy. . . I was wandering around a (certain place), just to see who lives there. I wandered for a short time, and the decided to take a shot at a kill. I went ahead and took down a small mob, which I figured I had the best chance at. He didn't last too long; I was rather pleased with myself. . . Hey, it was my first solo kill there! Then, I got a big surprise. . . As I hit my spam eq trigger to meditate, I discovered that I was missing an item: my backpack, in which I carry my spam eq. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what had happened to it. . . I went through my scrollback, looking for the point at which it had vanished, to no avail. . . I chatted a message to the effect that "Hmmm, my pack has vanished *boggle*" I immediately got responses, telling me who it most likely was. . . silly me, I went back to find the particular mob, and I'll be damned if it didn't steal my second pack as well! *bonk self* Well, by this time I was rather incensed, to say the very least. I sent out a request on chat for assistance in recovering my packs. No answer. I went back to the corpse of my last kill, figuring I would wait until I had the mana to animate, then take my charmie and get my stuff back. Again and again, I requested assistance. . . no joy. . . Eventually, I animated the corpse, and went on the attack. . . BIG mistake! My charmie lasted almost no time, and I didn't last much longer. So here I am, running naked through the area to get to my corpse. . . chatting that well, I guess I can't solo that mob, and crud, I can't meditate and boy am I mad. Immediately, I started getting tells from players offering to recover my eq. Flea and Ishtar were the first to respond. Then Vengeance and Huggy. Touchstone was looking for a detect hidden, and I told him I would as soon as I recovered my eq. Next thing I know, all 5 of them had arrived. Together, they made quick work of the mob who had stolen my eq, and I got it back. They were so good about the whole thing. . . Vengeance even chided me for trying to take the mob on alone at 25th level. . . This is why, even on the days when I get so frustrated I fell like I wanna just perma and leave, I don't and stick around and do what I can to aid those who find themselves in a fix. . . Here I find myself, in my prime, with a child and no husband - I must remember to give thanks for that one to the God of the Church of Crotchless, Thong and Edible underwear one of these days. Anyway, I was going to write about the birth of Tryst - I think I like the name Tryst, has a certain ring to it. Ronnie was there at the birth too, I almost wish he weren't, but it was someone to curse and throw crockery at so I let him stay. He tried to calm me down saying it at least wasn't painful to get the baby in there which made me go into another volley of name-calling. He just giggled at me, getting to be slightly unhinged. When the baby was out and I got to hold him I shot Ronnie a look and told him not to expect my baby to take his name just because he is the father, I think there's enough Valthalas bastards running around. I'm not so sure how he felt about that, but it is after all not my job to worry about his feelings. I really have to say some thanks for that... -smooch diary- Later /Bethra oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo Galoofing Galuf, Oh what shall I do, You make demons cry, And won't tell me why. You stomp on Fred's toes, Laugh when he dies. Then cut off my hair, Ignoring my cries. And when I ask why you hate poor old Fred, faithful friend, You yell "Spawn of Satan, most Evil Incarnate!" So I ask what is Satan (do give me a break, it's been three thousand years since I last knew a date) You scowl at me, roar at me, shaking your fist. Oh Galoofing Galuf, you call yourself good, But to tell you the truth, You're simply, extremely, and very uncouth! - Mitra (sometime employer of Fred, your friendly Neighborhood Demon) oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo The Hunter The hunter Valthalas tensed, the smell of his prey everywhere it seemed. The water held the taste of it's spoor and blood. It must be close, and upstream. He stood from where he was crouched by the river, and took off through the forest, slinking quietly through the leaves and branches, mindless of the odd withering which stole over the plants as he passed. Trails of his prey were clear in the mostly untouched forest. Every bent blade of grass and every small indent in the spongy earth had its own tale to tell. This would be a difficult one to take down, for it was obvious that they had grown powerful. The time for their end had come, for it was written in his dreams themselves. He burst into a clearing, the pale moonlight floating down and covering the grass like a soft silver blanket. He had found them at last! His prey sat, undefended back turned to Ronnie. With a growl, he pounced. His prey tried to turn, but it was too late. The vampire crashed into the unwary victim, his fingernails growing into sharp claws that tore the skin and sought out the vitals. Starting to chuckle, Ronnie sunk his teeth into his prey's neck. This had been too easy, way too easy. Where was the fight he had seen so many times before while hunting this one? His rage slaked, Ronnie tossed the limp body of teddy bear aside, its stuffing leaking out through many different punctures and tears. Now, he thought, I must find his companion, the dreaded giant panda with a bowtie... oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo_oOo ____________________________________________________________ / \ / __ __ __ __ __ ______ WHY?
